Overview
The Finance Manager is a crucial role responsible for overseeing the financial health of the organization. This position demands a highly skilled individual with a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and strategic financial planning. The Finance Manager will lead the financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This includes profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage the annual budget process, working closely with department heads to create realistic and achievable financial goals. Prepare regular forecasts to project future financial performance and identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and ratio analysis, to identify areas for improvement and provide insights to senior management.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to finance and accounting. Manage audits, both internal and external, to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Internal Controls: Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud. Regularly review and update control procedures to ensure effectiveness.
- Cash Management: Oversee cash flow management, ensuring sufficient funds are available to meet operational needs while maximizing returns on investments.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of financial professionals. Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure the team is meeting its objectives.
- Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic plan by providing financial insights and analysis. Evaluate potential investment opportunities and make recommendations based on financial feasibility.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to various stakeholders, including senior management, board members, and external auditors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in finance and accounting, with at least 3 years in a management role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP or IFRS accounting principles.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis techniques.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
