Deputy Finance Manager Job Description
Our organization is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Deputy Finance Manager to assist the Finance Manager in overseeing the financial operations of the company. Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP or IFRS). This includes preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and analyzing financial data.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Support the Finance Manager in developing and monitoring the annual budget and rolling forecasts. This involves collaborating with various departments to gather input, analyzing variances between actual and budgeted results, and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Internal Controls: Assist in maintaining and strengthening internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information. This includes reviewing existing controls, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing new procedures as needed.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable Oversight: Supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. This includes reviewing vendor contracts, resolving payment discrepancies, and monitoring aging reports.
- Cash Management: Assist in managing the company’s cash flow, including monitoring bank balances, preparing cash forecasts, and optimizing cash utilization.
- Audit Support: Assist with the preparation for and coordination of annual audits by external auditors. This involves gathering supporting documentation, responding to auditor inquiries, and implementing audit recommendations.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement. This includes analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs), preparing financial models, and providing insights to management to support decision-making.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and accounting standards. This includes staying up-to-date on changes in accounting regulations and implementing necessary adjustments to accounting procedures.
- Team Leadership: Potentially supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure efficient and effective operations. This may include delegating tasks, providing training, and conducting performance reviews.
- System Implementation & Maintenance: Assist in the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and systems. This includes troubleshooting issues, training users, and ensuring data integrity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP or IFRS).
- Proficiency in using accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
