Washington State University’s Finance PhD program aims to develop exceptional scholars capable of producing impactful research and teaching effectively at leading universities. The program typically takes four to five years to complete. The first two years are primarily dedicated to coursework. Successful completion of the comprehensive exams marks the transition to dissertation research.
The dissertation is the centerpiece of the PhD program. Students work closely with faculty advisors to identify a research topic, develop a research proposal, and conduct original research that contributes to the body of knowledge in finance. The finance faculty at WSU has diverse research interests, including corporate finance, asset pricing, behavioral finance, market microstructure, and financial econometrics.
